The two (2) Panama
The two «Panama»: the original city—founded on August 15, 1519, by Pedro Arias Dávila during the era of the conquest and the transit of gold—was destroyed in 1671 by the pirate Henry Morgan. We begin this interactive tour with a walk to enjoy excellent views of the Bay of Panama from the tower and ruins of the old Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption; from this vantage point, you can see both the modern city and the Casco Antiguo (Old Quarter). The site also features an artisan area, statues, monuments, and cannons from the conquest era. Afterward, we will take internal transport to a fort in the south and continue to the Convent of La Merced—the oldest in the Americas—where you will see ruins, the San Juan de Dios Hospital, mangroves, and a variety of crustaceans, fish, birds, flora, and fauna that link the old city with the modern one.
Following the destruction of the first city, the area known today as Casco Antiguo was rebuilt in 1673; it currently showcases a blend of Spanish colonial, French, and Caribbean architecture. During a walking tour of its cobblestone streets, we will share the area’s history and pass by various points of interest, including historic buildings, hotels, churches, monuments, a *mola* museum, a theater, plazas, artisan shops, and restaurants. The tour concludes at the San Felipe Market (a local fruit market), where we will enjoy a delicious fresh fruit juice. Both sites have been declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
As we travel between the two cities, we cross the Cinta Costera—where imposing skyscrapers like the Hilton (the tallest) rise up—and head toward Calle 50, the banking district, where we will see the famous «El Tornillo» building.

My husband and I took a tour with Paradise Green Panama Tour with guide Luis Felipe. We visited the Emberá indigenous community including The Casco Viejo walking through, and we had a wonderful experience. He is very knowledgeable and speaks Spanish and English. Furthermore, he was very attentive and friendly. We highly recommend his services. We will definitely contact him again.🇵🇦 🇵🇦🇵🇦🇵🇦
